Pre Job Shadow 12-1-11

For my job shadow im going to the hospital to work with Cassie Tinsley. I tried calling her yesterday but she didnt answer so im going to call her again today. i am expecting to be there quiet early to mid afternoon i am assuming. I will wear nicer clothes to make a good approach to me and our school. I feel the experience for this is going to be quiet fun and exciting because its pretty close to what i want to do when i go to college and get a career. Im really excited to be able to experience this, most kids our age dont get this privaledge.

Game Standards

Students formulate solutions to economic problems.
- the city is getting bigger And more and more people are moving in to houses and buildings there. More materials and variety is being demanded by the citizens. The people the people moving in need jobs, as well as housing, so if we hire people it fills the job aspect. The companies can help build roads and help the city expand as well as more housing for people to live.

-the shoe factory is an example of this because it produces something people need, which means they have more incentive to buy them. Not only are people going to buy them because they want to but because they need them.

Students demonstrate an understanding of economic principles that influence individual financial planning.
- knowing the type of government influences financial planning greatly. The better the economy is doing, the more financial prepared and if the economy is down, it's the exact opposite.

Students evaluate the impact of technology and how it has shaped history and influenced the modern world.
- technology such as heavy equipment has really shaped and influenced the modern world because it has helped a lot in expanding what we can do, bulldozers help us build better roads and drains help us build better buildings and bridges making our cities and towns safer and better.

Students analyze current events to better understand the world in which they live.
- the buildings are always in need of upgrading, and there are now more people in the city. This increases the prices and the help needed to run the businesses.it helps me manage my money and use it wisely. There are always more buildings needed to be built in town and that raises the cost of prices.

- past events such as businesses failing or a bank collapsing affect the present and the future because it gives examples of things that we should work to do, and it also affects the present and the future because people today are having to pay for the mistakes those made in the past.

1. what is your opinion of the topic of the video? explain why!
-my opionion on this topic is that its not fair to anyone else in this world to have to deal with people cheating their way through economic game. The government shouldnt arrest others for getting insider information if their turning around and doing it themselves. its just not fair.

2.what can you do about your opinion? how can you make your opinion count?
- right now as I know, there really isn't anything I can do that's very dramatic about my opinion but I can go and just express my opinion to others to try to get my point out in the open and maybe someday it will become something important to where we can vote and at least get my opinion to the important people.

3.what is insider trading? what was the information that caused Martha Stewart to go to prison?
-Insider trading is when the people inside cheat to get information about the stocks.Martha Stewart got inside information about one of her stocks that was gonna go down so she sold it and got money for it.

4. what is black friday? when did it get its name? what is cyber monday?
- Black Friday is the day after thanksgiving where stores have crazy sales to get in more shoppers and kind of clean out the seasons clothes to get in the new stuff. It got its name from the police in philidelphia who year after year had to face a massive crowd of fans that came to the army-navy football game. Cyber Monday is the Monday after black Friday where there are sales more online then in the stores themselves.

Candy Stocks

In Free Enterprise, When I first walked into the dark, loud, room I was very excited about all the candy that was on the floor and on the tables when we were told to chose a spot to go to and stay there I took my group ,who was Jon, Jared, a 5th grader, and i, to a corner then mr. Kapptie told us to start grabbing candy and grab as much as you can! I went crazy, my team went crazy and just started grabbing candy and we put it on a table. Then we had to separate all the different pieces of candy we had. We were going to trade them with other groups to gain more money and get rid of the candy that had the lesser value. So we were walking around everywhere trading candy it was so tempting to eat!! The 5th grader little girl was so outgoing and trading candy like crazy!!! She was so into the game as we were! It was awesome!!! Throughout the time being our teacher kept going to two white boards where all the candy names were written and the candy was eithe going up or down in price. Then towards the end he told us to finish our trading because the stock market was closing up. So we finished our trading then started counting up our pieces of candy and how much they were worth each. After we added them all up we had about 5,000 dollars or so. I stayed behind to help reset the game for the next class and it was just a fun, hectic, hot, dark time!(:

Occupy Wall Street

i feel that this whole protest is pretty pointless, because we as a whole can get jobs and make money to survive even if it means we have to get multiple jobs. the people that sit there on their buts and get paid by the government are kind of pathetic because they are just as able to get a job. They automatically think that since they are homeless and have no job or money that they are disabled. Which is pretty pathetic as a human being. People should think that if others can do it so can they!

journal #3 10/7/11

Transaction#1: Today i bought 100 more stocks of best buy because  right now they are doing really well and i feel in 52 weeks they are gonna be doing awesome! a few of their competitors are Ambercrombie and fitch, american eagle, and Gap which all happen to be doing okay but not the best.
Transaction #2: I short sold Target because it doesnt seem to be doing very well and in 52 weeks i think it will go down even more and i would lose money. A few of targets competitors are costco, kmart, and walmart. that are all doing better then target in some way and i dont want to keep losing money because of target.

Journal #2 9-29-11

Transaction #1: Today i invested in 115 SPDR Gold Trust stocks. i chose to buy this stock because it seems to be doing really well. I think in the 52 week period that it will be alot higher in scale then it is now.
Transaction #2: I decided to Short Sell my Ambercrombie and Fitch stock because it was really bring down my stocks in general. Its lost alot of money in the last week and i except it to keep plummeting so once i short sell it i expect to make money off of it.

Transactions #1: - Today i invested in 50 more stocks of Nike because i see the price scaling up and based on its consistant price right now i expect it to be a safe stock.

Vocabulary!

Vocab:
1. Stocks: A share of the ownership of a company.
Sentence: I bought 150 stocks from Hollister so i now have special ownership privledges.
2. Bonds: Are used to finance a variety of projects or activities.
Senctence: I opened my own saving bonds so in 12 years i can go and collect my money that has doubled from the bank.
3: Dow Jones: A system of telling how the stock market prices are doing.
Sentence: On Google Finance Dow Jones seemed to be pretty down today.
4:Equity: Ownership of an asset that is completely paid off.
Sentence: My friends car will become an Equity after she pays the rest of her payment.
5. Dividends:a distribution of a portion of the companies earnings.
Sentence: My mom  earns a dividend subbing for teachers at the school.

Sentence: Target was doing really well today and their earnings were higher then yesterday.

Sentence: Wal-Mart is known as a public company because you can buy stocks off of it as other companies are private and do not allow you to buy stocks.
8. Growth stocks: shares of a company whose earnings are expected to grow above average
Sentence: Rue 21’s growth stocks are becoming higher then average because they are staying in business and having great sales.
9. Risk - In a return risk is the possibility that one might lose some or all of the investment
sentence: When I reviewed my stock portfolio the return lost quite a lot compared to the original investment it was a higher risk than i thought it would be.
10. Small Cap - Companies that have a market capitalization between 300$ million and 2$ billion.
sentence: Buckle would be known as a small cap company because its worth is alot less then other companies.
11. Mid Cap - Companies that have a market capatalization between 2$ billion and 10$ billion.
sentence: Target would be known as a mid cap company because its worth is between 2-10 million.
12. Large Cap - companies that have a market capatalization of more than 10$ billion.
sentence: i think Apple would be a large cap company because it is a huge company and is worth alot more then 10 million.

9/11

In my opinion i honestly think we are winning this battle we have with the terrorists who attacked the world trade centers because their leader, Osama Bin Laddin,  is now dead and we are still searching to find the others that were invloved in the attack. The United states are not going to stop until they are all found and get punished for what they did. 9/11 has effected the whole country especially those who lost loved ones and now have to suffer still to this day not having their loved one around. I, myself, have to suffer...i lost my uncle because a group of people decided they didnt agree with what the u.s was doing and attacked it to prove what? that they can kill people and destroy buildings? i still dont understand why they did this. ive never gotten an answer from anyone... i still wonder..

whats my cause?

My cause is to someday go to a different country in need of medical help. i want to help adults and children that need medical attention.

first day of school!

well my first day wasnt too bad1 even though i got starred at by everyone i passed! oh well hope and pray it gets better!
